Mrs. Harmor
I am a Kindergarten Teacher at Legacy School….
I am a wife and mother of three grown children
…..also a Grandmother to 3 sweet little granddaughters
and a handsome grandson.
I teach with the same nurturing attitude towards other children that I have with my own.
I believe that the best learning atmosphere is created through Kindness and Love
…..NOT through Fear and Intimidation.
“I like to focus on developing a learning environment
where children can feel safe to learn.”
I graduated from Ashland University with a B.S. in Education in 1972. I received my Masters in Education from Nazareth College in 1977. I have an Early Childhood Degree in Arizona and an SEI endorsement in 2007. I have Permanent Certification in New York State and Arizona to teach K-8.
I married Morris Harmor in August of 1972…He is my greatest support and my biggest fan.
I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade in New York State for 6 years. In 1978 our first child was born and I stopped teaching for the next 12 years to raise my three children. In 1990, while living in Maryland I began teaching again Part Time. As a Teacher and Director of a Kindergarten Enrichment Program I had the opportunity to develop the curriculum. I loved this experience and did this for 8 years. In the spring of 1998 Morris took a new job in Phoenix. When our family left Maryland to move to Arizona, we were using the program I developed in 17 schools in the area.
I love using the computer to communicate with all of my friends and family. Two years ago
I started a classroom blog and I really enjoy journaling about everything we do in class. Come take a look

I was looking for just the right teaching opportunity when Legacy School approached me in 2001.
I am having a wonderful time teaching again and using the Core Knowledge Program. I am grateful for the opportunity over the past 9 years to get to know the students and the families here at Legacy. I am most excited about our new school and I have took a “zillion” pictures of the new building as it was being built. I am looking forward to meeting all of my new students for 2009-2010 and for a great school year.
Mrs. Woodbury
Dear Kindergarten Family,
Hello! I would like to take this chance to introduce myself. My name is Cindy Woodbury and I teach kindergarten at Legacy School. I have been teaching for three years at Legacy and I am committed to bringing the Core Knowledge curriculum to the classroom. I am also thrilled at the emphasis on the arts at our school.
Prior to teaching at Legacy, I was a full-time preschool teacher at a corporate child care center. I have a great love and enthusiasm for young children and especially kindergarteners! They are so excited about coming to school and discovering new things about the world. I truly desire to help lay the important foundations of your child's education. Kindergarteners need the nurturing and stimulation that I enjoy providing through reading aloud, singing, movement and creative activities.
I received my Bachelor's degree from California State University in 1982. I got married and moved to Arizona, spending the next twenty years as a stay-at-home mom. I am married to Garth Woodbury and we have five children and one grandson. I teach with the same nurturing attitude that I have with my own children, building relationships and creating a learning atmosphere of trust and kindness.
Since becoming a teacher at Legacy, I have completed courses to earn my Early Childhood teaching certificate. It has been an interesting experience to go back to college online, but it has been so helpful to focus my studies on early learning and development. I have benefited greatly from courses in early literacy, language skills, and developmentally appropriate methods. A major philosophy throughout my studies was the idea of involving the family to provide the best education for a child. It is my hope that we can be partners in the coming year to help your child reach his/her full potential.
Yours truly,
Cindy Woodbury
